Meghan Markle has showcased a surprise skill during a forum discussing uplifting Afro-Colombian women.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently touring Columbia, arriving in Cali on August 18, where they attended the event.
The couple greeted attendees at the Municipal Theatre and enjoyed a performance by Cynthia Montaño before Meghan, 43, took to the stage.

Meghan took her seat and removed an earpiece before speaking in Spanish, Colombia’s native tongue, to the crowd as they broke into applause.
She then mimed wiping sweat from her forehead.
Meghan and Harry also spoke Spanish during a visit to a kindergarten earlier in their trip.

Meghan reportedly learned Spanish when she worked as an intern at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires in Argentina before studying abroad in Madrid, Spain.
The duchess spoke passionately at the forum, saying she was “very fortunate at a young age to feel as though my voice was being heard,” something she labelled as a “luxury that a lot of young girls and women aren’t afforded.”
She spoke of the infamous letter she wrote at the age of 11 to Procter & Gamble to request a commercial for Ivory dishwashing liquid be re-written to be less sexist.

Meghan then went on to explain the work being done by the couple’s charitable organisation Achewell Foundation.
“For us and the work that we do with the Archewell Foundation, certainly the work that we do as parents and that I do as a mother, is ensuring that young girls feel as though their voices are being heard and also that young boys are being raised to listen and to hear those young women as well,” she said.

She also spoke about encouraging daughter Lili, three, to use her voice.
“Part of the role modelling that I certainly try to do as a mother is to encourage our daughter who, at three, she has found her voice,” Meghan said.
“And we’re so proud of that, because that is how we, as I was saying, create the conditions in which there’s a ripple effect of young girls and young women knowing that if someone else is encouraging them to use their voice and be heard, that’s what they’re going to do.”
