Thai actress-model Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul, who is better known by her stage name Baifern, was recently in Singapore for SK-II’s pop-up event.
The brand’s first Southeast Asian ambassador, who played the lead role in Thai drama Beauty Newbie, is no skincare noob though. The 31-year-old is so accomplished at caring for her skin that a skin analysis during the pop-up revealed that her “skin age” was that of a 22-year-old – that’s nearly a decade younger than her physical age.
The Mini Magic Scan is the world’s first contactless skin counselling experience that taps state-of-the-art facial recognition, AI and computer vision to analysis one’s skin age.
So how does Baifern achieve such a youthful complexion? What are her beauty secrets? The star shares her skincare know-hows with CNA Lifestyle.
CONGRATS ON BEING THE BRAND’S FIRST SOUTHEAST ASIAN AMBASSADOR. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH SK-II?
I heard of their Facial Treatment Essence years ago when it became viral and many called it the “miracle water”. Seeing the results on others, it naturally piqued my interest back then and I really wanted to try it out for myself.
I have dry skin and I use it after cleansing the face to hydrate and even out my skin tone. I love that it is very lightweight, which means my skin can quickly absorb all the goodness. I started using it religiously about three months ago and I saw a difference in my skin’s texture and clarity. It has now become an integral part of my skincare routine.
I’ve heard that scent in skincare products is typically not good, so I love how it has a mild, almost unnoticeable scent.
WHAT’S YOUR DAILY BEAUTY ROUTINE?
As an actress, I have to wear a lot of make-up for shoots and events and that really stresses out my skin. So I like to keep my daily beauty routine simple but effective using their products.
After removing my makeup, the treatment essence is the first product on my bare skin. I pat it on my face two to three times for maximum skin nourishment. I follow up with the brightening serum which helps with skin dullness and finally, I use the advance cream to lock in all the moisture. These simple steps help keep my skin hydrated, protected and glowing.
WHAT’S YOUR BEAUTY SECRET?
My beauty secret is consistency. Once I find a routine that works for me, I’ll stick to it and ensure that I keep to it day and night. The one step that I never skip in my current routine is the use of the treatment essence. Staying hydrated and getting enough sleep are also crucial. For me, it’s all about taking care of yourself inside and out.
WHAT BEAUTY TREND ARE YOU ON-BOARDING RIGHT NOW?
The 10-step skincare routine used to be very popular, but for me, I’m into the minimalist skincare routine where less is more. I try not to complicate my skincare routine with tons of different products. I prefer to keep it natural and simple, letting my skin experience the few key ingredients consistently.
When I look for skincare products, I look for products with powerful ingredients. This is also why I love the iconic Pitera ingredient which has amazing benefits of hydrating, revitalising and firming of the skin. The brand’s philosophy of simple yet powerful skincare aligns with what I am looking for.
WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF REAL BEAUTY?
For me, real beauty is all about being confident and comfortable in your own skin. It’s about embracing my own unique features and taking care of myself. When I feel good on the inside, it also shows on the outside. As an artiste, real beauty is also about taking good care of my skin, having crystal clear skin and showing the best side of myself to my fans.
THE INDIANS USE NEEM TO RID PIMPLES, THE KOREANS USE GINSENG FOR GOOD SKIN. WHAT TRADITIONAL THAI BEAUTY REMEDIES DO YOU SUBSCRIBE TO?
In Thailand, we often use tamarind for its (skin) brightening properties. Personally, I love making a tamarind scrub by mixing tamarind paste with honey. It’s a great natural exfoliant that leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed, and it brightens up my skin as well.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE THAI BEAUTY TREATMENTS?
I love traditional Thai massages. They are incredibly relaxing and as someone who moves a lot throughout the day, these massages really help relieve the stress and tension in my body.
On days that I can’t get massages, I like to do stretches at home and take my time with my skincare routine. Indulging in my skincare routine also relaxes me from a long day. When I need TLC for my skin, I will use the treatment mask and let my skin soak in the magic of Pitera. My skin feels hydrated after and offers a good base to work my skincare in, including the treatment Essence for that finishing glow.
A WAVE OF THAI CELEBRITIES IS TAKING OVER FASHION AND BEAUTY. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS PHENOMENON?
It’s truly inspiring to see Thai celebrities make such a significant impact in the global fashion and beauty industries. This wave of recognition showcases the talent and creativity that Thailand has to offer.
I’ve also worked with many talented actress and actors (such as Mario Maurer, Nine Naphat and Tao Sattaphong) from Thailand who are doing amazing work internationally. I look forward to working with even more talent to promote the Thai culture on a global stage.
I am also glad that I get to see my fans from different parts of the world.
